Gruia's friends online

GRUIA'S FRIENDS ONLINE. When we started the fundraising campaign a couple of weeks ago we had a pretty vague idea about what should be done to make Gruia's story public. We knew for instance that it was important to have a website accesible for anyone who wants more information and we counted on our friends and acquaintances to spread the story around mostly by word-of-mouth. I was also hoping that my blogger friends will write about Gruia's case, but that was it. In fact, we had absolutely no idea how many new friends will join our fight in the online.

Our campaign has started online on 9 March. The very same day two people, Ada Demirgian in Bucharest and Vio Bota in Timisoara posted the first lines on their personal blogs. Cronologically, they have the great merit of being Gruia's first online friends. We owe the a great deal of gratitude, especially that they did this at their own initiative; we didn't even knew Ada before. Both of them supported us relentessly and stood by Gruia for the whole campaign. Ziarulcopiilor.com, a project close to Ada's heart, started in its first online edition with an appeal for Gruia's cause.

From Ada Gruia's story went in the same day to Andreanum, were it began to really spread. Andreea was involved not only online, but she managed to convince also her friends and co-workers to help Gruia. The blind little boy, who had a twin brother who was playing with a pair of sunglasses, was a known figure from the very first day of campaign.

Than followed old colleagues of mine from the blogosphere, with whom I had shared ideas and arguments together, and new people, whom I didn't met before, but who all of them proved to be our dedicated friends: Cristian Banu, Mihnea Dumitru, Andrei Crivat, Crinuta and Vaca Verde, Waven.

By the third day Dan Selaru joined our online adventure. He stood faithfully by us and encuraged us continually. Dan lived along with us the re-birth and afterwards the loss of the hope that Gruia could still undergo an eye surgery called vitreoctomy in America, at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, one of the best eye clinics in the world, after which, with Dan's contribution, a big-hearted man, Dr. John Herescu, tried to help Gruia. Dear Dr. Herescu, we will never be able to thank you enough for all that you have done for Gruia!

We want to warmly thank all those who through their kind support are giving Gruia the chance for regaining his sight: Chinezu, Catalin Ivan, Inconstantin, g1b2i3, manjusri, Adrian Vasile, Sa ne citim, Bogdana, Andrearoxxy, Simonaastefanei, Mihai Buzea from Berile-de-aur, jeagainsmyself, tiribonflax, ingrideas, generaldude, ionutu, Marius Paraschiv, Desmo, isabellelorelei, loveaffair withyou, coryamor, claricedinu, florin4d, blogulluicici, sorin.rusi, liarebe lyell, and all the others known or unknown who supported us.

I don't have the right to end this post without writing a few words about a few extraordinary men who helped us enormously: Eugen Erhan and Tudor Muscalu, "guilty" for the original support from Fredo & Pid'jin, and Cristian Manafu. Manafu's call for solidarity was overpassed in generosity only by the kindness of the man who answered this call: Bogdan Surdu, who offered to cover from his own expenses the flight tickets to China.

We would like to send a special thank to all this people and we hope to be able to return them the same kindness someday.

Your support means a lot to us now. Please feel free to contact us.
