First IV today

TODAY IS THE BIG DAY - Gruia will have his first stem cells injection. We woke up a few minutes ago and gave him the milk bottle. He's very talkative and well humoured (as always). In a few minutes the nurses will come to check his temperature again and prepare him for the injection. Then they will have to find a vein to insert the needle. A cream with Lidocaine will make sure that Gruia will not feel too much discomfort.

The whole IV injection will take about 30 minutes to complete, during which time Gruia will have to rest quietly in his bed. That is easier said than done. May the little stem cells fulfil their duty and start working wonders for Gruia's eyes...

Update: the injection went well. Gruia was very quiet and although at the beginning was a bit afraid eventually calmed down and listened to his mother's telling of a story.

In the picture bellow the catheter is visible. Gruia is so funny because he keeps his left hand a little raised.
